ABOUT SCHREIER'S LUMBER CO.

Schreier's Lumber is the oldest active business in Verdigre. Schreier’s Lumber dates back to 1895 when Emil Schreier purchased the Horton Bros. lumberyard in Verdigre. 3 generations of Schreier’s followed Emil in the family business. Great Grandson Chris and his wife Cindy now run the business.
The business still operates out of the same yard building that was built in 1918, the year after the original yard on the site burned down. The concrete plant was established in 1966, and upgraded in 2010, and is located to the NE of the main yard building. A 40' x 80' storage building was added in 2004 east of the main building.
If you stop in and have a cup of coffee you can see and hear a little of the history of the lumberyard and those who worked here over the years. You can also meet two of the modern inhabitants of the lumberyard, Nala and Willa, our two lumber cats.
